Forty-six Burundian members of Parliament say they fear for their security; they have just addressed a correspondence to the United Nations Secretary General asking him to get involved in order to guarantee their security.

Burundian organizations of media professionals wonder about the series of libelous and insulting declarations by political authorities against the Burundian press family. The astonishment of these organizations is especially related to the qualifier by some of these authorities who compared certain Burundian media with the notorious Radio Television des Mille Collines. For these organizations, that is vulgarizing the crime of genocide and aims at finding a scapegoat in the difficulties the country is facing. It is with an aim of avoiding confusion put in the opinion that these organizations issued Friday February 22, 2008 a press release.

Human rights organizations issued Thursday February 14, 2008 a declaration in which they deplore the continuous deterioration of humans rights situation in the country.

More than 70 women's organizations denounce the alarming security situation in Burundi in a memorandum addressed to the Head of State this 1st February 2008, they suggest solutions in order to bring back security to all the territory. The deadlock of the peace agreements between the government and the FNL, a heavy circulation of firearms, a tendency to use militias for power control, or violence against women, all these evils undermining Burundian society are denounced by these women's organizations.

The CNDD-FDD commemorated Saturday September 01 the 2nd anniversary of its victory in the 2005 elections. In this connection, the OLUCOME notes, once more, that the CNDD-FDD uses the cartage of the State and request the Government to respect the line which it set as regards fight against mismanagement of the state.

The Forum for the reinforcement of the civil society, FORSC, held a press conference this afternoon of August 03 in Bujumbura to mark its concern and disapproval of the deterioration of the socio-political situation in Burundi. It asks all concerned to put forth the interests of Burundians.

The action group of Burundian human rights associations has just issued a declaration in which it gives its position regarding December 31, 2007 deadline, date the Great Lakes Sub-Region recommended for effective implementation of the Agreements signed between the Government and Palipehutu-FNL.
